Find A Lost Dog Checklist

If at any time your dog should runaway or go missing, you need to immediately begin searching for him using this checklist as your guide.

• Search your neighborhood first.  Walk slowly and meticulously and observe your surroundings, this includes under houses, backyards, any open garages, bushes, etc.  Call your dog by name.  Do this search at different points throughout the day, especially the early morning, early afternoon or late evening when it is quiet and your dog has a better chance of hearing you.

• If you have another pet dog or your pooch has a buddy on the street, bring them along to help with the search.

• Check every nook and space of your home.  This includes basements, closets, attics, etc.

• Notify your local humane society, animal shelter, animal control, dog rescue, veterinarian and animal emergency hospital of your missing pet.

• Write out a full and clear description of your dog and give this to all the places you’ve notified along with a picture.  Details should include:
